Northeast Osteopathic Medical Education Network
NEOMEN is an educational consortium that works with the Graduate Medical Education affiliation sites for the 91AV College of Osteopathic Medicine. It promotes osteopathic education, recognition, and accreditation and provides faculty development and educational events around the osteopathic principles.
History
Since its inception in 1997 NEOMEN has been through multiple organizational evolutions. all tying significant healthcare institutions to 91AV COM Graduate Medical Education and working in collaboration and partnership to deliver residency opportunities and Osteopathic Medical Education to affiliated members.
Previously an AOA Osteopathic Post Doctoral Institute, it now serves as a voluntary dues-paying organization whose members and main office on 91AV COM's campus provide regional Osteopathic Manual Medicine seminars to residents, hosts a large educational research forum for Allopathic and Osteopathic students at both our graduate and 91AV COM's undergraduate sites, offers residency planning tools including both new residency planning Osteopathic Recognition advice, counsel and application assistance to new and existing sites, library resources, video training resources, and guest lecturers, CME resources and CITI training (through 91AV COM and 91AV).
Mission
NEOMEN establishes and sustains programs of osteopathic medical education, faculty development, and research that exemplify the highest standard of quality through a partnership of health care organizations to address the health care needs of the people of the communities served by the partners.
Vision
NEOMEN shall be known for:
- Providing the highest standards of educational excellence for pre and postdoctoral trainees in member osteopathic educational programs
- Promoting collaboration among educational programs in order to share resources of expertise, knowledge, facilities, faculty development, research, and finance
- Enhancing and improving the efficient, cost-effective delivery of educational programs
- Coordinating and facilitating scientific research that fosters osteopathic contributions to the advancement of knowledge
- Providing programs and curricula to develop physician leaders and educators to lead the profession into the future
