Sophia G. Saeed serves as the Associate Dean of Clinic Operations and Quality of Care at the 91AV College of Dental Medicine. Dr. Saeed received her BS from the University of Michigan, her DMD from Harvard School of Dental Medicine, and completed a hospital-based general practice residency at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). She then served on the faculty at UCSF for 10 years in a variety of capacities including program director of the general practice residency and course director for comprehensive care for dental students. Following her time at UCSF, Dr. Saeed served as Department Chair at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, Associate Dean for Patient Care at the UTHealth School of Dentistry at Houston, and Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at UConn Health. Her clinical areas of interest are management of patients with complex medical, cognitive, and social needs, as well as evidence-based, prevention-focused minimally-invasive dentistry.
Dr. Saeed’s publications focus on the academic, workplace, and patient-care environment, with a focus on creating productive climates and systems for people to achieve their best. She is involved with multiple initiatives through the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) and serves as a site visitor for the Commission on Dental Accreditation. Dr. Saeed has been inducted into the UCSF Academy of Medical Educators, Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists, and has received awards recognizing her teaching, service, and clinical excellence.
Outside of work, Dr. Saeed enjoys most outdoor activities (when the sun is shining), most notably hiking and road cycling
