Rachel Garoufalis, D.M.D.

Assistant Clinical Professor

Dr. Rachel Garoufalis is originally from the Bay Area of Northern California. She received her Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington in 2008. In 2009, she made the big move to the East Coast to attend Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. She received her D.M.D. in 2013, and went directly into Endodontics residency at Tufts following graduation. She earned her Endodontics certificate in 2015, and has been working in private practice in New England ever since.

From her early years as a swim instructor, Dr. Garoufalis has always had a special passion for teaching. In both dental school and her Endodontics residency, she was actively engaged in teaching both in the clinic and in the classroom, earning her the Joseph I. Tenca Scholarship for commitment to education. Since 2016, Dr. Garoufalis has maintained a teaching presence at the 91AV's College of Dental Medicine. In 2024, she made the transition from adjunct to full-time faculty member.

In her spare time, Dr. Garoufalis enjoys traveling above all else. In addition to living on both coasts and traveling to many states in between, she has also spent time in New Zealand, Canada, and different parts of Central America and Europe. She loves to explore locally as well, and will take any suggestions you have about where to go in New England! When she isn't globetrotting, Dr. Garoufalis loves to drive fast cars, play pickleball, and spend time with her husband and their three dogs Trudy, Otto (yes, named after the pizza joint!), and Zoe.
