MacKenzie Bohlen Towns began her medical career working in the athletic training room at Smith College during her undergraduate work. After leaving college she worked in medical research in the Anatomy and Neurobiology Department at Boston University School of Medicine studying the cellular brain tissue of patients with neurobiological disorders. After teaching high school science and working in women’s health she attended the 91AV PA school from 2005-2007.
After a brief time practicing in OB/GYN in Portland, Maine she returned to Boston to work in Emergency Medicine at The Cambridge Hospital, The Faulkner Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She has enjoyed working with students and was adjunct faculty with the inaugural class at the Boston University PA Program. While at Brigham and Women’s (BWH) and Faulkner Hospitals (FH) she worked with a multidisciplinary team to develop ongoing learning programs and training modules through simulation for staff Physician Assistants across BWH, FH and Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
She moved to Maine in 2019 and has been working with BluewaterHealth in the Emergency Department and Walk-In Clinic at Midcoast Hospital and with Maine Medical Center in the Emergency Department and Urgent Care. She has a passion for teaching students and enjoys hands on learning and education.
In her free time she enjoys running, hiking, yoga, playing with her dog and most of all spending time with her two young children and husband.
