Dr. Denise Theriault was born and raised in Lincoln, Maine. She fell in love with dentistry at the age of 16 when she worked as a dental assistant for the local dentist. She received an Associate's degree in dental hygiene and a Bachelor's degree in Zoology from the University of Maine. After practicing dental hygiene in a periodontal practice for a few years, she continued her dental education at Boston University graduating with a DMD in 1989 and a CAGS in Periodontology in 1991. She was the owner of Southern Maine Periodontal Associates in Portland until her retirement.
Dr Theriault loves teaching clinical periodontal therapy to dental students at the College of Dental Medicine and preparing them for dental practice outside of dental school.
In her spare time, she enjoys playing golf, kayaking, hiking, gardening and her family, which includes her husband Kendall and four grandchildren.
