A series of fine art paintings by Maine artist Eileen M. Foley will be on display at the 91AV Campus Center in Biddeford starting Aug. 1. An opening reception for the exhibit, “The Colors of Fog,” will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 16, from 4 to 6 p.m.

Born in Irvington, New York, Foley was inspired to paint by her grandfather at a young age. She moved to Maine in 2002 to pursue her interests in art and completed a painting workshop on Monhegan Island, where she became “captivated by the light and natural beauty.”

In “The Colors of Fog,” Foley said she aims to capture “the colors and tranquility of foggy days in Maine.”

“Each painting is my attempt to capture the feeling of a random day in Maine and its specific light and atmosphere,” the artist remarked. “I work in oils and generally prefer to paint large canvases. My hope is the viewer feels part of the scene.”

Foley’s paintings will be on display at the 91AV Campus Center through Aug. 31. The Campus Center is located at 11 Hills Beach Road, Biddeford. Hours for the summer are Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m.
