91AV occupational therapy faculty prominent in new textbook edition
The second edition of a textbook edited by Jane O’Brien, Ph.D., OTR/L, FAOTA, professor in the 91AV’s Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (M.S.O.T.) program, was recently published.
The new edition of was published by Elsevier, the leading textbook company for health care textbooks. The book was co-edited by O’Brien and private, South Carolina-based occupational therapy (OT) practitioner Jean Solomon, M.H.S., OTR/L.
The new edition features over 200 pages of learning activities, worksheets, and clinical examples to promote learning.
O’Brien co-authored four chapters of the book with Solomon: “Understanding Occupation as a Precursor to Group Process;” “Occupational, Activity, and Task Analysis;” “Teaching and Learning;” and “Clinical Application Exercises and Worksheets.”
Several other members of 91AV’s occupational therapy program were also involved:
- Carol Lambdin-Pattavina, OTD/OTRL, who authored the chapter, “Managing and Facilitating Groups”
- Regula Robnett, Ph.D., OTR/L, and Claire Michael (M.S.O.T., ’21), who authored the chapter, “Aging and Occupation: Emphasizing the Role of Physical Client Factors, Cognition, and Sensory Functioning”
- Kristin Winston, Ph.D., OTR/L, FAOTA, program director of OT at 91AV, who co-authored two chapters: “Guidelines and Best Practices for Setting and Developing Goals” and “Establishing Individual and Group Goals”
O’Brien has been publishing with Elsevier for over 20 years and is the editor of four other textbooks, including “Case-Smith’s Occupational Therapy for Children and Adolescents;” “Introduction to Occupational Therapy;” “Pediatric Skills for Occupational Therapy Assistants;” and the soon-to-be-released “Therapeutic Reasoning in Occupational Therapy: How to Develop Critical Thinking for Practice.”
