David Livingstone Smith speaks at the Ubuntu Leaders World E-Summit
David Livingstone Smith, Ph.D., professor of philosophy, was invited to speak recently at the 2nd annual Ubuntu Leaders World E-Summit.
The event took place on May 16 to celebrate the United Nations (UN) International Day of Living Together in Peace. It seeks to inspire and commit the participants to the objectives that the UN has set for this day, through the promotion of peace, tolerance, inclusion, understanding, and solidarity.
Smith spoke about combating dehumanization during an afternoon session titled “Living Together in Peace Means…”
The event was sponsored by the Ubuntu Academy of Leaders, a non-formal education project aimed at training young people with high leadership potential.
Smith is the author of the award-winning book “Less Than Human: Why We Demean, Enslave, and Exterminate Others.” He recently released his eighth book, “On Inhumanity: Dehumanization and How to Resist It.”
