Steven Byrd collaborates with Brazilian research team to translate and revise research article
Steven Byrd, Ph.D., professor of Spanish and Portuguese, recently collaborated with a team of Brazilian doctors and psychologists to translate and revise a research article.
The resulting article, "An Unrecognizable Pain: Neonatal Loss and the Needs of Fathers," was recently published in the American International Journal of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, an international, peer-reviewed journal for social science academics.
Byrd, a scholar of Brazilian culture and translator of Brazilian literature, was sought after by the Brazilian research team of Gláucia Maria Moreira Galvão, Denise Streit Morsch, Eduardo Carlos Tavares, and Maria Candida Ferrarez Bouzada to translate and revise their work into English, which featured recorded impromptu interviews with a number of Brazilian mothers and fathers.
Byrd’s past research includes Afro-Brazilian language and the culinary history and culture of Brazil.
