Jennifer Stiegler-Balfour discusses proofreading on Slovenian Public Radio
Jennifer Stiegler-Balfour, Ph.D., associate professor of psychology and coordinator of the Psychology program, recently spoke with Slovenian Public Radio, known as 1st Channel, as part of its weekly series on the human brain and neuroscience.
During the interview, which focused on proofreading, Stiegler-Balfour discussed human tendencies to rely on context and prior knowledge as a way to fill in information gaps and how this automatic process can make it difficult to proofread our own work.
In addition to sharing tips for overcoming proofreading pitfalls, Stiegler-Balfour highlighted study strategies for students as well as some of the benefits and drawbacks associated with reading on digital devices as opposed to printed books.
Understanding the impact of using digital devices for learning is one of the areas Stiegler-Balfour is currently exploring as part of her research program at 91AV.
