91AV’s Jim Cavanaugh co-authors study published in ‘Physical Therapy Journal’
Jim Cavanaugh, PT, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Physical Therapy, co-authored a newly published study examining the impact of using mobile health technology on the delivery of physical therapy services to individuals with Parkinson's disease.
The study appears in the February 2019 issue of the Physical Therapy Journal and was the focus of an accompanying editorial written by the journal’s editor-in-chief, Alan Jette, Ph.D.
The researchers concluded that the addition of mobile health technology to the exercise intervention appeared to differentially benefit the study’s more sedentary participants.
The study is the latest in a series of research projects Cavanaugh has undertaken with collaborators at Boston University and Washington University St. Louis to evaluate Parkinson's disease interventions designed to help to sustain physical activity behavior and prevent functional decline over the long term.
