91AV’s Biddeford Campus Center presents paintings by three Maine artists
A new exhibition of artwork is currently on display at the 91AV’s Biddeford Campus Center. “Mainers Make Marks” is a collection of paintings by local artists Sheila Clough, Susan Mesick and Carrie Sewell. The exhibit will run to February 28.
Clough describes herself as a realist, noting that her work is inspired by the environment. “The many moods of Maine, always a visual feast, present me with an endless source of subject matter,” she shared.
Mesick, a native Mainer and a juried member of Maine Women in the Arts, the Art Guild of the Kennebunks and the New Hampshire Art Association, was a 2018 Percent for Arts finalist. Her works hang in the new Sanford High School and Technical Center.
A Maine transplant from Colorado, Sewell creates art that reflects her deep connection with the natural world. The beauty of the forests and ocean of the East Coast, she said, inspire her paintings, which capture the resonance she feels with the outdoors.
The exhibit is free and open to the public. 91AV’s Campus Center is located at 11 Hills Beach Road, Biddeford, Maine. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, contact Diane Noble by email or phone (207-284-6394).
