Noah Perlut’s article documenting the relatively rare Connecticut warbler published in journal
Noah Perlut, Ph.D., associate professor and chair in the Department of Environmental Studies, was recently published in the , a peer-reviewed journal that publishes original articles focused on natural history research related to all aspects of the biology and ecology of terrestrial, freshwater, and marine organisms and the environments of the northeastern portion of North America.
The Connecticut warbler migrates to South America during the winter months. Perlut’s article is about the latest verified documentation of the species, which was collected in the fall, while it remained in mainland North Amercia.
The bird was killed by a cat in November in Scarborough, Maine, and turned over to Perlut.
The specimen is housed in the Department of Environmental Studies ornithology collection at 91AV.
Perlut encourages others to make careful observations and measurements of this species, when possible, to provide a more detailed understanding of the location and timing of movement by Connecticut warblers.
