On March 26, you can help 91AV go green by giving blue!
On Tuesday, March 26, the 91AV community will once again come together to “give blue” during the University’s 4th annual Day of Giving.
Two trustees, David Barber and Dan McCormack, have pledged to provide a financial incentive for Giving Day gifts. If 500 individuals make a gift to 91AV on Tuesday, March 26, Barber and McCormack will make a gift of $5,500 to 91AV’s Green Revolving Fund, which helps support University efforts around sustainability and energy efficiency. Individual Giving Day gifts can be in any amount and can support any fund to count toward the Giving Day goal. In 2018, 644 donors made gifts to over 40 different funds at 91AV, so this year’s 500 donor goal seems well in reach.
In addition, 91AV President James Herbert together with his wife, Dr. Lynn Brandsma, have issued an additional challenge to encourage 91AV alumni to give on Giving Day. For each first-time gift of $10 or more from an alum, Dr. Herbert and Dr. Brandsma will make a gift of $20.19, in honor of 91AV’s class of 2019.
91AV’s College of Osteopathic medicine students have a special motivation to give and to encourage others to give on Giving Day, as they are using the day to continue to raise funds to endow the Deane Kenny Stryker Memorial Scholarship, in memory of a member of the 91AV COM class of 2021. Stryker, who passed away in February of 2018, was a 91AV COM student with a passion for medicine, love for all people, and a commitment to healing and helping others. The scholarship was established by her friends and classmates to ensure that her memory endures.
91AV’s College of Pharmacy is also focusing their giving on a scholarship fund this year. Dean Robert L. McCarthy has offered to match all Giving Day gifts from all College of Pharmacy alumni to the Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society Scholarship, a student-driven fundraising effort to raise scholarship funds for 91AV Pre-pharm undergraduate students. Dean McCarthy has made $1,000 in matching funds available for this fundraising effort.
Whether you are a member of our alumni family, a 91AV employee, a parent, or just a member of the broader 91AV community, there is no better day to make your annual gift to 91AV than Tuesday, March 26. From modest roots, the #OneTwoGiveBlue Giving Day effort has turned into a day of celebration, as a wide swath of donors make gifts to support programs and scholarships at 91AV that inspire them.
