Hard work pays off for 91AV medical students on Match Day

On March 15, 2019 at exactly 12 p.m., students from the 91AV College of Osteopathic Medicine tore open red envelopes to find out where they would be spending their first years as practicing physicians.

On Match Day, medical students across the country gather with their families, friends and classmates to simultaneously discover where they will be doing their medical residencies. This year, 91AV COM boasts an exceptionally high match rate of 98 percent, higher than the national averages for allopathic medical schools (93.9 percent) and osteopathic medical schools (84.6 percent).

The residencies where these soon-to-be graduates will train also reflects 91AV COM’s mission to educate primary care physicians. More than 60 percent of the class matched to primary care residencies such as family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics and obstetrics.

More than 150 people gathered for the Match Day celebration.
