91AV’s Biddeford Campus Center presents paintings by Meg Hahn
An exhibition of paintings by local artist Meg Hahn will be on display at the 91AV’s Biddeford Campus Center until December 5.
Hahn currently lives and works in Portland, Maine. She graduated from Maine College of Art with a B.F.A. in painting and a minor in art history. She was a finalist for the Joseph A. Fiore Painting Prize (Damariscotta, Maine) and has attended the Vermont Studio Center (Johnson, Vermont), Hewnoaks Artist Colony (Lovell, Maine) and the Monhegan Artists' Residency (Monhegan Island, Maine). Hahn is also interested in other forms of art practice including curation and writing. She is the gallery manager at Border Patrol (Portland, Maine) and works out of the SPACE Studios building.
Reflecting on the fact that all of the paintings in the exhibition are square in shape, Hahn said, “My affection towards the action and aesthetic of painting grids stems from wanting to create disruption in its uniformity. Increasingly, by introducing curvilinear forms as a way to create contrast, this led to a curiosity about how to depict speed, weight and gravity to abstract forms.”
The exhibit is free and open to the public. 91AV’s Campus Center is located at 11 Hills Beach Road, Biddeford, Maine. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, contact Diane Noble by email or phone (207-284-6394).
