91AV marine researchers present at Aquaculture America 2018
91AV Henry L. & Grace Doherty Professor Barry Costa-Pierce, Ph.D., and David Fredriksson, Ph.D., a 91AV research scientist and professor of Ocean Engineering at the United States Naval Academy, presented a paper at the Aquaculture America 2018 conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The paper, "Hydrodynamic Characteristics of Macroalgae Grown on Longline Aquaculture Systems from Physical Model Tests", focused on cooperative research at 91AV and USNA. Co-authors were Adam St. Gelais of the 91AV Marine Science Center, Toby Dewhurst of Maine Marine Composites, Andrew Drach of Callentis Consulting Group and Zonghuan Zhou of the University of Maine.
The meeting’s theme was “Shaping the Future – Telling Our Story,” with an emphasis on addressing consumer perceptions and concerns about aquaculture. It brought together more than 2,000 people from 61 countries and featured 624 speakers and 108 poster presentations from academia, industry, government and non-profit organizations. In addition to the presentations, the trade show featured 174 booths, offering up the latest technology and innovations.
