Emily Dornblaser appointed assistant dean for Interprofessional Education and Practice in College of Pharmacy
Emily Dornblaser has been appointed assistant dean for Interprofessional Education and Practice (IPE/P) in the College of Pharmacy.
Dornblaser, Pharm.D., M.S., BCPS, assistant professor and critical care specialist in the College of Pharmacy, joined 91AV in 2009. She is currently a tenured associate professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice.
“We are very excited to have Emily Dornblaser assume this critically important leadership role,” said Robert McCarthy, dean of the College of Pharmacy. “As one of the nation’s leaders in IPE/P, 91AV is committed to providing IPE/P experiences for pharmacy and all our health professions students. Emily will bring her experience to our efforts to ensure that IPE/P is not simply an add-on to our professional program but an integral component of our core curriculum.”
Dornblaser completed her Pharm.D. degree at the University of Pittsburgh and a pharmacy practice residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She remained at the University of Pennsylvania to complete a specialty residency in critical care pharmacy.
In 2015, Dornblaser completed her Master of Science in Medical Education Leadership degree at the 91AV.
Her teaching and scholarly interests include reflective writing to improve clinical judgment, best practices in global pharmacy education and the influence of workforce demands on curriculum design.
She has served in several leadership roles, including as chair of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Global Pharmacy Education Special Interest Group. She has also served the college and University in several capacities, most notably as interim director of the Center for Enrichment of Teaching & Learning.
Dornblaser assumes her new role on February 1.
