College of Pharmacy’s Devon Sherwood authors chapter for a primary textbook in pharmacy education
Devon Sherwood, Pharm.D., BCPP, assistant professor, College of Pharmacy, is the lead author of a chapter in the recently released 11th edition of Applied Therapeutics; The Clinical Use of Drugs, on Sleep Disorders. Formerly known as Koda-Kimble & Young’s Applied Therapeutics, it is one of the most widely used pharmacy education books in the country.
Sherwood says sleep disorders are incredibly common. She says each year one-third of the U.S. population experiences insomnia alone, with 17 percent of those cases reported to be serious.
The chapter includes treatments for various sleep disorders, including insomnia, narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome and sleep apnea.
