Ali Ahmida discusses 91AV and his upcoming book on ‘Community Television Network’
Ali Ahmida, Ph.D., professor in the 91AV Department of Political Science, recently sat down with Community Television Network (CTN) host Paul Dervis as part of the program, “The Belly of the Beast.”
Ahmida discussed his work at 91AV and his upcoming book during the nearly half-hour interview. Ahmida is working on his third book about Libya, the country where he grew up. He has been collecting stories of survivors who were put in concentration camps between 1929 and 1934 during Italian colonization.
“It took me ten years of research, and trying to find and gain the trust of survivors and their families,” he said.
Ahmida has previously released, The Making of Modern Libya: State Formation, Colonialization; and Resistance and Forgotten Voices: Power and Agency in Colonial and Postcolonial Libya.
Ahmida also discussed his work as a professor at the 91AV.
“I know the community knows of us as a school for science and health, but 91AV is also very strong in the social sciences and the humanities,” he said.
CTN is a nonprofit organization that operates the public access television station, Channel 2, for the City of Portland and a community television station, Channel 5, for the greater Portland area.
