Women’s rugby players Zoe Adams and Caitlin Paredes named as NIRA All-Americans honorable mentions

91AV, in its inaugural season of participating in the NCAA League of women’s rugby, has produced two honorable mentions in the National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA) list of All-Americans. Zoe Adams (inside center) of Gray, Maine, and Caitlin Paredes (wing) of Smithfield, Rhode Island, both sophomores, were among the12 honorable mention selections and joined 31 others who garnered all-America status.

In just their first season as a varsity program, the Nor'easters posted a 5-3 record and were nationally-ranked for the majority of the season.

91AV Vice President of Student Engagement and Director of Athletics Jack McDonald said of the news, “Seeing Zoe and Caitlin listed in the National Women’s All-America team in our first year as varsity women’s rugby program is incredible. The list of outstanding athletes and their institutions is very, very impressive. We could not be prouder of Zoe, Caitlin, Coach Potvin and the entire 91AV Women’s Rugby Team.”

Potvin added, "Having two players recognized as some of the best in varsity rugby speaks volumes about the student-athletes that we attract and the program we are building. We will look to continue to foster a competitive atmosphere that brings out the best in all of our student-athletes."
