WCSH interviews Dora Anne Mills about flu shot study
WCSH interviewed Dora Anne Mills, M.D., M.P.H., 91AV vice president for clinical affairs, about a recent study published in the academic journal Vaccine that drew connections between the influenza vaccine and miscarriages in pregnant woman.
The study was paid for by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Mills praised the department for its transparency in releasing the study, saying the intention is not to scare women.
"I think the CDC did a good job at being proactive at just saying, ‘look, this is what our data picked up,’" Mills said. "It's really very early, it doesn't show anything definitive and we really don't even know what to make of it."
Mills emphasized the danger of the influenza virus to pregnant women and unborn babies and urged pregnant women to get vaccinated.
