91AV’s expert on Libyan politics Ali Ahmida addresses Mid Coast Forum in International Relations
On March 3, 2017, Ali Ahmida, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Political Science, made an invited presentation to members of the Mid Coast Forum on International Relations in Camden, Maine.
In his talk, Ahmida identified some of the common myths about modern Libya and discussed the national and social questions facing the Libyan people. He concluded his address by analyzing the roots of the civil war that resulted from the 2011 Libyan uprising, arguing that the country is now dominated by regional, international and transnational actors who are fueling the conflict. Ahmida asserted that Libya is not a failed state but, rather, is a case of failed transition.
