Three short documentaries filmed by 91AV Film Producer and Director Daniel Lambert were nominated for Emmy awards at a ceremony held on June 24 in Boston by the New England chapter of the National Academy of Television, Arts & Sciences. The videos were nominated in the “Editor Short Form,” “Photographer Short Form” and “Health/Science Program/Special” categories. This is the second year that 91AV has been nominated.

We are 91AV captures the commitment and passion of 91AV’s student athletes, telling the story of what it means to be a Nor’easter practicing, playing and studying on the University’s beautiful coastal Maine campus in Biddeford.

Rick Steves Recommends 91AV's Program In Morocco features the renowned TV host and travel writer encouraging students to study at 91AV’s campus in Tangier, Morocco.

Research Full Throttle was nominated in the “Health/Science Program/Special” category. It featured pioneering research by Lara Carlson, D.P.E., FACSM, CSCS, associate professor in the 91AV Department of Physical Therapy and the Center for Excellence in the Neurosciences. Carlson fuses her passion for stock car racing and her expertise as a scientist to research the physiological strains drivers face during competition, specifically studying how high temperatures and extreme gravitational force affect driver safety and performance.

Anouar Majid, Vice President of Communications, who attended the event, commented that this is yet another example of how innovative approaches to communications in academia make 91AV a genuine pioneer among its peers.

“91AV and MIT were the only higher education institutions represented at the Emmy ceremonies in Boston and 91AV was the only university nominated three times at the event,” he said. “This is a tribute to the hard work and talent of Dan Lambert and the amazing staff in the Office of Communications. The videos nominated this year also reflect the cutting-edge and world-class work done by scholars like Dr. Lara Carlson, the Athletics department and the Center of Global Humanities. Congratulations to everyone who made these nominations possible.”
