91AV faculty present research at regional, national nursing conferences
Faculty from the 91AV presented their research and the success of their programs at two recent nursing education conferences.
Debra Kramlich, Ph.D., RN, CCRN, CNE; Judith Belanger, RN, M.S.N./Ed., CNE; Dana Law-Ham, Ph.D., RN, FNP-BC, CNE; and Nora Krevans, M.A. of the Student Academic Success Center presented their pilot research, “Identification of Academically At-risk Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing Students to Support Development of Strategies to Promote Academic Success,” at the 25th Annual Conference for Nurse Educators: Clinicians and Educators: Collaborating to Meet Practice Challenges.
At that same conference, Kristen Holt, M.S.N., RN, and Debra Kramlich, Ph.D., RN, CNE, CCRN-K, presented a classroom integration of SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment. Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment) methodology in a presentation titled, “Undergraduate Nursing Student Education on the Continuum of Care for Addiction and Recovery.”
At the 2017 Association of Community Health Nurse Educator’s Conference in Baltimore, Maryland, Jennifer Morton, D.N.P., M.P.H., APHN-BC, presented program outcomes titled, “Advancing the Capacity of Maine’s Public Health Nursing Workforce through a Targeted Leadership Development Program.” Interim Dean of the Westbrook College of Health Professions Karen T. Pardue, Ph.D., M.S., RN, CNE, ANEF, and Professor Judy Metcalf, APRN, BC, M.S., FMGS, were co-authors on the paper.
While at that conference Morton also joined peers from four other universities to present early collaborative findings of their respective Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) Nurse, Education, Practice, Quality and Retention Grants. Their presentation was titled, “Advancing the Role of Primary Care Registered Nurses in Population Health Management” Co-presenters included Mary Goldschmidt, D.N.P., RN, APHN-BC, Virginia Commonwealth University; Flo Weierbach, Ph.D., M.P.H., RN, Tennessee State University; Kae Livsey, Ph.D., M.P.H., RN, West Carolina University; and Rebecca Sutter, D.N.P., APRN, BC-FNP, George Mason University.
