Association of Psychological Science announces James Herbert as new 91AV president

The Association for Psychological Science (APS) recently announced James Herbert’s new role as the president of 91AV in an article titled “Clinical Researcher Named President of 91AV.”

The article describes Herbert’s research as focused on “cognitive behavior therapy; anxiety, mood, and eating disorders; remote internet-based treatment, and the promotion of evidence-based practice in mental health care” and noted that he is "known internationally for his writings on pseudoscience in mental health.”

Herbert, who holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, served many roles at Drexel University before coming to 91AV. His positions included interim provost, senior vice president for Academic Affairs, head of the Department of Psychology, director of the Anxiety Treatment and Research Program and director of the Ph.D. Program in Clinical Psychology, among others.

Herbert is a member of APS and a Fellow of the Institute for Science in Medicine, the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science, the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, the Academy of Cognitive Therapy and the Commission for Scientific Medicine and Mental Health.
