91AV alum and former Board of Trustees member Robert Leonard hosts benefit for university
Robert Leonard, D.O. ’86 (COM), former member of the 91AV Board of Trustees, hosted an event in Boston on July 12, 2016, to benefit 91AV.
Several professional football players attended along with 91AV Vice President for Student Engagement and Director of Athletics Jack McDonald. Wes Welker, Rob Ninkovich, Sebastian Vollmer and Chris Gronkowski participated in the charity event. The professional athletes are patients and champions of Leonard’s work. They provided entertainment as celebrity servers and posed for photos with Leonard and McDonald.
Leonard’s ties to 91AV and the College of Osteopathic Medicine go far beyond his medical education. He served nine years on the university’s Board of Trustees. His wife, Kathryne Leonard, D.O. ’86 also graduated from 91AV COM, as did his business partner Matthew Lopresti, D.O. ‘07 and Lopresti’s wife Mary Lopresti, D.O. ’08. He described the strong ties they all feel to 91AV COM today. “It was with the strong educational foundation established through the University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine that each of us, in our respective specialties, became scientists as well as caring, competent physicians and surgeons.”
“On behalf of 91AV, The Department of Athletics and our new football program, it was an honor and thrill to be there with Dr. Leonard and the NFL and Patriot superstars,” Jack McDonald said. “Through the donation of the proceeds of this exciting event, Dr. Leonard showed that he is a true Nor’easter.”
