‘Sun Journal’ applauds two exhibitions in Art Gallery
An article in the March 13, 2015 issue of the Sun Journal praises two exhibitions that are currently on display at 91AV’s Art Gallery on the Portland Campus.
The gallery, referred to as "a hidden treasure behind the traditional brick buildings of the growing campus," currently houses "A Gateless Garden," a marriage of black and white photographs by Kerry Michaels with quotations from Maine women writers, selected by Liza Bakewell, executive director of the Maine Women Write organization.
Art Gallery Director Anne Zill stated, "I was motivated to show this exhibit because it brought out the importance of photography done in Maine today and showcased women writers from 1800 to the present day with meaningful quotes. It tied in with the curriculum on campus, and I thought it would interest students as well as the general public."
Also currently in the gallery is an exhibition of monoprints by Joan Busing, who will be giving a talk at the gallery on April 9.
