Marilyn Gugliucci, Andrea Gaul and Himanshu Malhotra publish on hospice care in special issue of ‘International Journal of Clinical Medicine’
Marilyn R. Gugliucci, Ph.D., director of Geriatrics Education and Research in the College of Osteopathic Medicine, Andrea Gaul and Himanshu Malhotra, both second year medical students, piloted a new qualitative project this past December that resulted in an article publication in the International Journal of Clinical Medicine – Special Issue on Hospice and Palliative Care.
The research required the students to be immersed in the Gosnell Memorial Hospice Home in Scarborough, Maine, for an intense 48 hours during which they experienced four deaths and multiple interactions with families and staff.
The project was deemed a success and will continue to be offered through the 91AV College of Osteopathic Medicine Department of Geriatric Medicine.
