Elizabeth De Wolfe lecture and research featured in 'Wiscasset Newspaper'
Elizabeth De Wolfe, Ph.D., professor of history, director of the Liberal Studies Program, appeared in a Wiscasset Newspaper article regarding the lecture she gave at the Nickels-Sortwell House Barn on July 25.
The article detailed the 1894 trial following Col. William C.P. Breckinridge that De Wolfe researched for her new book, ‘The Congressman, the Mistress and the Girl Spy: Scandal and Secrets in the Gilded Age.”
The countless hours De Wolfe spent reading through records at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. were noted in the piece, along with some of the commentary she shared about the trial during her lecture.
