Dogs available for adoption at Campus Center art show opening

An opening reception will be held for an exhibition of rescue dog paintings by Rachel Michaud in 91AV’s Campus Center in Biddeford, Maine on June 5, from 5-8 p.m.

Outside of the Campus Center, dogs will be available for adoption from the Pixel Fund, a non-profit organization in Maine dedicated to saving the lives of shelter pets through education, advocacy, rescue efforts and participation in community events.

Michaud, a volunteer with the Pixel Fund, began painting five years ago and believes that her paintings of rescue dogs give the animals a voice.

“My goal with this show was to create a cohesive body of work that would serve a purpose beyond the visual experience,” she explained. “By telling these stories, I hope that more people will choose to adopt a dog rather than purchase from a store or breeder and recognize that all of the unwanted dogs in this country have value and a story.”

The exhibit is free and open to the public, and will run from June 4 to July 2, 2015. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
