Brian Wells formally recognized in Gold-Standard Pharmacotherapy text
Brian Wells, Pharmacy ’16, will be formally recognized in Pharmacotherapy: A Pathophysiologic Approach, for his intellectual contributions to the book’s chapter on Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), written by Christian Teter, Pharm.D., BCPP, associate professor of Psychopharmacology at 91AV. Wells is the first student to be approved for formal written acknowledgement.
During his Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience rotation with Teter, Wells was encouraged to identify something of clinical significance that was absent from the MDD chapter in the book. His contribution discussed the key factors involved with determining a patient’s antidepressant regimen, noting the importance of understanding whether an individual requires medication with sedating properties or activating effects.
Collaborating with Teter, Wells also researched potencies of individual antidepressants on neurotransmitters including Serotonin, Norepinephrine and Dopamine.
Pharmacotherapy: A Pathophysiologic Approach is considered a gold-standard reference text in the pharmacotherapy field. It has been used as an essential textbook for schools of pharmacy for the past 15 years.
