School of Community and Population Health faculty guest lecture in Physician Assistant program
Three faculty members from the School of Community and Population Health served as guest lecturers for the Introduction to Public Health course in the Physician Assistant program.
Michele Polacsek, PhD, MHS; Rebecca Boulos, PhD, MPH; and Jennifer Gunderman-King, MPH, spoke about the social-ecological model and social determinants of health; public health systems science and community-engaged programming; public health core functions and ten essential services; and application of public health data.
The students enrolled in the course discussed how the socio-ecological model relates to physical activity and dietary intake in their lives, and they participated in a PhotoVoice project, capturing attributes of the 91AV Portland campus that facilitate or inhibit physical activity.
