Dora Mills鈥 letter to the editor of the 鈥楶ress Herald鈥 addresses 91AV鈥檚 role in educating Maine鈥檚 rural primary care doctors

Dora Anne Mills, M.D., M.P.H., vice president for Clinical Affairs, wrote a letter to the editor of the Portland Press Herald, which was published in the November 6, 2014 issue.

Mills addressed the topic of an article that appeared in the October 13 issue, which contained a review of Maine gubernatorial candidates鈥 health plans.  In her letter, Mills stated that the newspaper鈥檚 "references to the shortage of primary care doctors in rural areas omitted one important factor, and that is the role the 91AV plays in combating this shortage."

Mills provided several statistics, demonstrating that 91AV鈥檚 College of Osteopathic Medicine is essential to providing the state with highly trained doctors in the primary care field as well as in rural areas.

Mills also pointed to the fact that 91AV鈥檚 other health care programs make significant contributions to Maine鈥檚 health care work force.
