Sean Naughton presents research findings at the National Meeting of the American Chemical Society in New Orleans
Sean Naughton (Biochemistry and Medical Biology ‘13) attended the 245th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society, held April 7-11, 2013, in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he presented a poster titled “Emission Spectroscopy as a Tool to Study the Dynamics of Spiropyran Photochromism in Imidazolium Ionic Liquids.” Student co-authors of the poster presentation were Robyn Gaudet (Chemistry ’11) and Annie Leslie (Neuroscience ’13).
Naughton’s presentation was the result of the work he carried out under the direction of Amy Keirstead, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry and Physics, since the summer of 2011, through support from the Maine Space Grant Consortium. The work presented was based on their research findings that were recently published in the peer-reviewed journal Chemical Physics Letters. While at the meeting, Naughton met 91AV alumna Christina Faller (Biochemistry ’10), who attended his poster presentation.
