91AV College of Pharmacy faculty in spotlight at American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy annual meeting
Faculty from 91AV’s College of Pharmacy played an important role at the recent American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy annual meeting in Kissimmee, Florida, which took place July 13-18, 2012. Faculty members presented posters, served as speakers, received recognition for their leadership roles and teaching skills, and were selected for various positions in counsels and committees.
Assistant Professor Lisa Pagnucco, BS Pharm, Pharm.D., BCACP, Associate Professor of Pharmacy Administration Jean Woodward, Ph.D., R.Ph., and Assistant Professor Matt Lacroix, Pharm.D., BCPS, all presented posters for which they were first authors. Pagnucco presented “Interprofessional Education Learning Activity During Student Orientation for Health Professions at 91AV.” Woodward presented the poster “A Career Stages Perspective to Pharmacy Faculty Development;” and Matt Lacroix’s poster was titled, “Integrating a New College of Pharmacy into Interprofessional Education at a Multidiscipline University.”
Lacroix also chaired a roundtable topic, “Professional Fraternities: Advising a Unique Aspect to Schools of Pharmacy.” Additionally, he represented 91AV’s College of Pharmacy at the AACP House of Delegates.
Associate Professor Edward Li, Pharm.D., BCOP, Assistant Professor and Vice Chair of the Pharmaceutical Science Department Olgun Guvench, M.D., Ph.D., and Assistant Professor Cory Theberge, Ph.D., were recognized as 91AV Teachers of the Year at the AACP Closing Banquet.
College of Pharmacy Dean Gayle Brazeau, Ph.D., served as the keynote speaker at the special session, titled, "Navigating the Manuscript & Peer Review Process: Guidance from AJPE & JAPhA." She also was the primary speaker at the Women Faculty SIG luncheon and discussed “Navigating the Peaks and Valleys in our Professional and Personal Lives.”
Additionally, Brazeau was recognized for AACP Leadership as associate editor of the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education, while Research Associate Professor and Director of Genomics, Analytics and Proteomics Dan Brazeau, Ph.D., was recognized for AACP Leadership as immediate past chair of the Pharmacogenomics Special Interest Group.
Gayle Brazeau will serve as a member on the 2012-2013 AACP Professional Affairs Committee and will continue as the chair for the 2012-2013 PCAT Advisory Committee. She was selected as one of the two candidates for the position of Secretary in the Council of Deans. This election will occur in the fall.
Finally, Assistant Clinical Professor Emily Dornblaser, Pharm.D., was sworn in as the chair-elect for the Global Pharmacy Education Special Interest Group.
