91AV undergraduate students Amber Zablowsky and Annie Leslie co-author a presentation given at the Inter-American Photochemical Society meeting in Mendoza, Argentina
Amber Zablowsky (Medical Biology, 2011) and Annie Leslie (Neuroscience, 2013) were student co-authors on a poster presentation given by Amy Keirstead, Ph.D., entitled “Using the Photo-Fries Reaction to Investigate the Cage Effects of Ionic Liquids” at the 21st Inter-American Photochemical Society meeting, held from May 17-20 in Mendoza, Argentina. Ms. Zablowsky and Ms. Leslie carried out the work in Dr. Keirstead’s research laboratory in the Department of Chemistry and Physics. Ms. Zablowsky was the lead undergraduate researcher on this project from 2009-2011 and recently completed an Honors Thesis with the same title. Ms. Leslie has been working on the project since fall 2010, and is continuing the study during summer 2011 on a College of Arts and Sciences Undergraduate Summer Research Scholarship. Notably, this presentation was one of very few research projects carried out by undergraduate students, and received commendation for quality and relevance by some of the lead researchers in the field.
