Press Herald, NECN, and WMTW feature 91AV Dental Careers Exploration Camp

91AV's second annual “Dental Careers Exploration Camp” for Maine high school students was featured on  and on June 27, 2011 and in the on June 28th. In addition the Associated Press ran a story on the camp June 26th that was picked up by more than 40 online and other media venues, including the Boston Globe, MSNBC.com, the Morning Sentinel, Kennebec Journal and .

Twenty-eight high school students from around Maine are participating in this year’s free program that runs from June 26th  through June 29th. Students learn about various dental techniques on patient simulators, including preparing teeth, placing sutures and taking radiographs in addition to participating in discussions on sterilization, infection control and radiation safety.

David Burtt, project coordinator for the camp, and Joan Sandell, D.M.D., of the College of Dental Medicine's Planning Office, were interviewed for the NECN and Press Herald stories; Kneka Smith, associate dean of CODM, was interviewed for the WMTW 8 story; and James Koelbl,D.D.S., dean of CODM, was quoted in the Associate Press stories.
