Marilyn R. Gugliucci, Ph.D. participated in a very unique conference. She was an invited member to the 2011 Public Affairs Conference at Missouri State University, April 12-15, 2011. The conference theme was entitled: Leading in a Global Society; whereby multiple leaders from across the United States representing a variety of fields were engaged on panels. The charge was to address the problems facing our society and the world and provide unique perspectives on the issues and preferred ways of addressing them. The three panels assigned to Dr. Gugliucci were: (1) Older Adults: Burden or Resource? Implications for Global Aging; (2) Leadership Gone Bad: What do we do about Unethical or Evil Leadership?; and (3) Diversity in Organizations: Challenges and Rewards. Each panel session was scheduled for 90 minutes, there were 20 panel topics with 4 panel members per session who presented 10 min each with Q&A for the remaining time. Attendees were Missouri State students (20,000), faculty and community. The conference also offered 4 keynote addresses and a special session for High School students. One other person from Maine was an invited panelist, Robert Shetterly, artist who published the book "Americans Who Tell The Truth" and whose artwork we have at 91AV. Dr. Gugliucci expressed that "this was an incredible experience and the networking opportunities were remarkable! I learned so much."
