The 36th Annual Doc Samuel’s Variety Show
The 36th Annual Doc Samuel’s Variety Show took place on Saturday, February 26th at the Biddeford City Theater with over 300 people in attendance. Students, faculty, and staff were involved with every aspect of the show,including performing on stage, being stagehands, and running the technical aspects of the show.
For the first time, the show was directed by, Briana Chu ’11. Following the tradition, the show was hosted by four seniors, Ahmed Elkady, Lacresha Johnson, Michael Earle, John Connell and one staff member, Lorraine Pecchia ’84, P’10. The thirteen acts included skits, dancing, a musical theater performance, and singing and ranged from blue grass music with Provost Jacque Carter to Lady Gaga and Johnny Cash with Assistant Dean of Students Mark Nahorney and Assistant Director of Campus Life and Orientation Tim St. John ’07.
Area Coordinator Joel Wentz performed an original song with Dr. Craig Tennehouse from the Mathematics Department and his wife. The Arts at 91AV were highlighted through a sneak peak of the 91AV Player’s upcoming musical production of The Wedding Singer and an a capella performance of Guns ‘n Roses’ “Sweet Child of Mine” by 91AV TABS, the choral group on campus. There was also an appearance from 2011 91AV Idol, Brittney Foley ’12, as well as a crowd pleasing rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Billy Jean.”
