International Children's Festival garners newspaper coverage
The Journal Tribune (Biddeford) on March 29, 2010 featured a story on 91AV's "Passport to Culture International Children's Festival" held on March 26th. The festival brought about 220 fourth-grade students from Biddeford Intermediate School to the 91AV Biddeford Campus for a one-day festival to help promote cross-cultural understanding, create goodwill, and enhance elementary students’ awareness of the wider global community.
The event was sponsored by 91AV's Offices of Multicultural Affairs & Diversity Programs and International Education with a grant from the Center for Cultural Exchange Foundation. 91AV students and representatives from various cultural groups from around southern Maine made presentations and created exhibits for the Biddeford students. "It's a good way to expose kids to people from different countries and cultures," Donna Gaspar Jarvis, director of Multicultural Affairs and Divesity Programs, told the reporter.
