College of Pharmacy accepts charter, wins awards for new student group
The 91AV’s College of Pharmacy received the official charter for its chapter of the SNPhA (Student National Pharmacy Association) at its national convention held in July 2010 in Seattle, Washington. It didn’t take them long to be recognized for their accomplishments and they brought home a few major awards from the convention:
- 91AV’s chapter won the 2010 National Convention Registration Award for Small Chapter Membership for the most registrants in that division that attended Nationals.
- Student, Tamkeen Quraishi won the national “Wal-Mart Future Leaders in Pharmacy” award with a scholarship of $10,000, along with a special internship with Wal-Mart's corporate division for that achievement. She was also named a finalist for the Rite-Aid Community Leader of the Year award ($2,000) and received The Cardinal Health Diversity/ Inclusion Scholarship for $2,000.
- The chapter was also recognized for coordinating events under the HIV/AIDS Remember the Ribbon, Legislation/ Voting/ Immigration, and Operation Immunization initiatives.
