A study of homeless Mainers with disabilities conducted by conducted by a team of researchers, including Thomas Chalmers McLaughlin, Ph.D., 91AV professor of social work, was the focus on a story in the Oct. 31, 2009. The study found that Providing permanent supportive housing to homeless Mainers with disabilities is significantly less expensive than allowing them to remain homeless, but there is a statewide shortage of that type of housing.
