Biddeford Campus

Free and open to the public

A lecture by Prof. Brian Roth, U Maine Orno - Sponsored by the Dept. of Environmental Studies, 91AV

The American Chestnut once dominated the Eastern forests of the United States. After a blight was brought over from Asia, the American Chestnut began to die off, drastically changing the ecosystems they once thrived in. Once an important food source for many animals, these impressive trees soon vanished from our landscapes. In 1983, the American Chestnut Foundation was formed with the aim to restore the American Chestnut to our forests. Join us as we hear from Professor Roth as he details the history of these trees and the steps being taken to restore them to our eastern woodlands.
