Biddeford Green Space Planning Conference
This is to remind you that the Department of Environmental Studies is co-sponsoring a conference on Green Space Planning in the City of Biddeford, in the St. Francis Room on Thursday May 6 from 5-9 pm. Chris Feurt (Coordinator of our Center for Sustainable Communities) and I will be making presentations based on our environmental education outreach scholarship.
The Chair of our 91AV Board of Trustees, Mike Morel, will open the Conference and welcome his fellow residents of Biddeford. You're invited to attend, but certainly not expected. It would be good if you shared the attached agenda with your classes, as appropriate, and invited them to attend. Any student who wishes to volunteer to assist the work will be welcomed and appreciated--ask them to email me.
The conference goal is to explore ways that Biddeford's future land will include varieties of green spaces: --large unfragmented areas of diverse wildlife habitat; --river and woodland trails--the amazing possibility of a trail from downtown Biddeford to the lower river on the 91AV Campus; --rec fields and pitches; --the relation between upland land use and Saco River water quality;--recreational and green energy use of the Saco. And a free supper.
